 THE JOB
Under the supervision of the Project Officer, the Physiotherapist (PT) is responsible to ensure appropriate rehabilitation care to the most vulnerable individuals affected by the Syrian crisis, including people with injuries and disabilities. The Physiotherapist (PT) is a member of multidisciplinary team (other PTs, Occupational Therapists, Psychosocial worker and Prosthetist& Orthotist)
 Responsibility 1: Support the development of community based approach
 Aim: Ensure that community based rehabilitation workers are able to identify and refer people in need for services
 Activities 
  • Contribute to identification of community volunteers
  • Contribute to the development of adapted training and its delivery to community based volunteers
  • Provide coaching  to volunteers as needed
  • Contribute to the development of tools be used by volunteers and to the identification of other resources needed to support the role of volunteers 
  • Assess the quality of work of volunteers and initiate feedback on areas of improvement
 Responsibility 2: Assess functional capacities of the beneficiaries and identify their needs for rehabilitation and specific items
Aim: Ensure holistic assessment of needs of beneficiaries in respect of users-centered principles
 Activities: 
  • In collaboration with OT, social worker and PSS worker, carry out a rehabilitation assessment taking into account physical, social and environmental factors in a holistic way
  • Based on the assessment, make a treatment plan , considering their functional needs, social situation and access to services, with provision of technical aids if required, in coordination with the social worker and the psychosocial worker
 Responsibility 3: Provide safe and appropriate rehabilitation interventions
 Aim: Ensure all activities implemented in line with the treatment plan contribute to improve quality of life of the beneficiaries and do no harm
Activities: 
  • Get informed consent from the beneficiary before performing the rehabilitation intervention
  • Define the rehabilitation intervention’s objective clearly and in a comprehensive way with the active participation of the beneficiary and his/her family/caregiver
  • Provide rehabilitation session, and modify the treatment in close relation with the beneficiary and his/her family/caregiver  
  • Identify the needs for assitive devices, deliver it to the beneficiary and train them and the care give/ beneficiary  on how to use  and care for it.
  • Provide follow-up care and make decisions regarding discharge in an appropriate manner
  • Identify  the limits of the given intervention, provide information to beneficiaries and refer to other services as appropriate
  • Identify emergency situations that need immediate medical care and react quickly to facilitate access to appropriate services
  • Make internal and external referrals in response to identified needs in coordination with case manager
  • Transfer rehabilitation technique skills to the client and family. If necessary provide handouts. (make sure clients know how to do when they going back home)
 Responsibility 4: Lead group therapy sessions and when needed collaborate with the psychosocial workers. 
 Aim: Ensure that group therapy sessions are linked to the overall intervention plan and contribute  to better outcomes for the beneficiaries
 Activities: 
  • In collaboration with the team, identify the beneficiaries and the families who could benefit from group sessions
  • Define the rehabilitation objectives of the group sessions and participate in the organization/animation
  • Define the rehabilitation objectives for the families of the injured/people with disabilities and participate in the sessions
  • Animate the group session in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Among the beneficiaries, identify people (peer) who could support the organization of group sessions
  • Encourage participation of peers in the group session

Responsibility 5 :Report data on group activities, follow-up on individual cases and organize the daily and weekly activities

Aim: Ensure that  technical information on intervention is available  and there is clarity on planned activities
Activities: 
  • Ensure a qualitative follow-up of the beneficiaries and document the follow-up according to the monitoring plan
  • Ensure quantitative and qualitative reporting through HI tools (assessment form, follow-up form, discharge and monitoring form, donation certificate, groups report) and system in place
  • Organize the weekly plan along with the multi-disciplinary team and participate to team meetings
  • Any other reports to be made upon line manager request

Responsibility 6 :Participate in the analysis and reporting of global issues in the refugee population, with a focus on rehabilitation 
 Aim: To contribute to the orientation of response by providing relevant and updated information on the evolving context 
Activities: 
  • In formal and informal meetings with the team, participate in the qualitative analysis of the different kinds of issues, at individual, familial and community levels
  • Participate in reporting with the tools and the internal system of all issues identified
  • Develop case studies and collect testimonies to provide evidence and input in reporting
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
Will have 
  • Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience working as a Physiotherapist
  • Knowledge of referrals mechanisms
  • Knowledge of user centered approach and center based rehabilitation
  • Ability to work in an multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply  clinical tools 
  • Experience in development and provision of training  and coaching
  • Knowledge of community based rehabilitation approach
  • Ability to work with partners( local and international actors
  • Ability to develop information materials
  • Empathetic
  • Motivated,
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexible,
  • Adaptable in various situations
  • Positive personality
  • Diplomatic
