Habitat for Humanity Jordan is recruiting a Project Coordinator for rehabilitation work to support the implementation of an Education project for Syrian Refugees and affected host populations in Jordan, funded by the Slovakaid. The main activities of the project is to rehabilitate and rebuild school facilities to improve access to quality education.
The Project Coordinator reports directly to the National Director/Senior Operations Manager and is responsible for the coordination of HFH projects in Jordan, with particular reference to projects under the HFH/Slovak Aid Agreement. He / She will oversee the liaison process with stakeholders and the constructional activities and site operations of the overall project, in-line with the strategic goals and guidelines of the Slovakaid project.
Key areas of responsibilities:
· Focus on building and rehabilitating schools within the communities.
· Develop relationships with several stakeholders. Liaise with the Ministry of Education, other government ministries and departments, school administrations, communities, partners and other stakeholders to ensure successful coordination with authorities;
· Conduct visits, organize meetings and establish relationships between relevant stakeholders in the communities.
· Remain informed of the laws of the Ministry of Education and other government entities relevant to construction and community development;
· Define item specifications in accordance with local regulations and comply with ministerial standards and donor’s requirements;
· Collaborate with construction supervisor / contractor regarding project construction and conduct site visits and technical assessments;
· Support the development of green building construction techniques;
· Develop affordable construction solutions and products in association with stakeholders;
· Draft terms of reference related to construction and setting specifications for scope of works to be carried out;
· Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BoQs) and tender documentation;
· Conduct tendering process as well as request and review of bids;
· Participate in the shortlisting of tenders;
· Prepare tender evaluation reports and recommendations for award of contracts;
· Supervise the procurement and contract administration of the projects;
· Ensure a safe work environment on site and security of people and property;
· Provide accurate activity and pipeline reports as required.
· Prepare and present interim and final progress and financial reports approved by the National Director/Senior Operations Manager.
· Work on gathering information and collecting data to support drafting proposals and concept notes.
· Provide estimation for the cost of materials and work conducted.
· Provide budget and financial management, ensuring that costs remain within the project budget.
· Give presentations in formal settings and create an environment for learning (paperwork, sweat equity).
· Share lessons learned with donor and other stakeholders.
· Perform other relevant duties assigned.
Suitable candidates will need to satisfy the following requirements:
· University degree in a related field, engineering is preferable.
· 3-6 years of experience in humanitarian/development sectors in INGO or NGO.
· Previous experiences in monitoring, evaluation and report writing.
· Excellent organizational planning and analytical skills
· Basic knowledge of construction technology and methods is preferred
· Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks.
· Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
· Ability and willingness to travel in Jordan.
· Possess a Jordanian citizenship or have a valid work permit in Jordan.
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic essential.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Willingness to learn and adopt new technology and methodology
· Must have ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment with multi-national staff.
· Ability to work under pressure, be a self-starter, team builder, innovative and demonstrate the capacity for maintaining high professional standards.
